Come to Bayhealth - Kent General and Milford Memorial Hospitals for emergency services 24 hours a day. Our board-certified emergency physicians and specially trained nurses are prepared to handle the most serious medical crises. Helicopters and ambulances bring trauma cases to the hospital from throughout the region. Our specialists may be called at any time for emergency surgery, to evaluate complicated cases, or to admit patients requiring inpatient care.

Kent General Hospital
Kent General's Emergency Department (ED) is designated as a Level III Trauma Center, meaning it has a 24-hour Trauma Team and Emergency Room. Staffed by physicians board-certified in emergency medicine, Kent's ED serves 48,000 patients per year. It has 21 beds, 4 bed fast track; a 4 bed trauma/resuscitation bay and 9 other monitored beds.

Milford Memorial Hospital
Milford Memorial's Emergency Department (ED) is a Level III Trauma Center that serves 24,000 patients per year in its 16 beds and 6 fast track beds.

Visitor Policy
Since the ED treatment area gets crowded often, we have a visitor policy:

  • Usually, you will be allowed one visitor
  • The visitor may be asked to leave during the doctor's examination
  • If the patient is a child, an adult is expected to remain with the child at all times.
  • Children, other than those being seen by the doctor, are not allowed in the treatment area.
  • Please respect the privacy of our other patients.
