The purpose of this program is to promote increased understanding of the critical role of nurses in a changing global healthcare environment. One aspect of this changing role is a nursing management model known as "shared governance" or "shared decision making." This model promotes better patient outcomes, and profession. Shared governance plays a critical role in nurse satisfaction, promotes better patient outcomes and improves nurse recruitment and retention.
Objectives:
- Discuss the implications of technological develoment on prefessional practice, human lifestyles and societal development.
- Identify the significance of nursing's role in a changing healthcare environment.
- Analyze the impact of shared decision making on the success of patient care practices.
- Identify the local and national legislative issues that will effect the future of nursing practice.
- Discuss several nursing skills considered critical in sucessful shared decision making models.
