Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Bayhealth. Bayhealth depends on and values the contributions of our many volunteers who devote their time and talents to helping out in many areas of our hospitals. Our volunteers include senior citizens, students, retirees, homemakers and young professionals who contribute more than 47,000 hours each year to Bayhealth. They transport patients, run errands, type and file, greet patients at our information desks and staff our gift shops, among many other responsibilities. Many volunteers enjoy assisting with special projects such as large mailings or hospital events. Call today to find out how you can help serve your community.

Kent General Hospital Junior Board
Founded in 1947, the Junior Board is Kent General's oldest volunteer organization. Junior Board volunteers serve up Dover's best sandwiches and milkshakes at the gift shop, deliver patient mail, bring the hospital cart to patient floors, help run the newborn photography service or help staff the information desks. Call (302) 744-7065 for more information.

Milford Memorial Auxiliary
The Milford Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary began in the early 1920's. Auxiliary members run the baby picture service and television service and plan special events such as the annual Milford Memorial Hospital Fair and Chinese Auction. For more information, call (302) 430-5622.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor
The award-winning Neighbor-to-Neighbor program provides free services for people over 50 who live in the greater Dover and Milford areas. Services include light grocer shopping, transportation to doctor appointments, telephone reassurance and other light in-home services. Neighbor-to-Neighbor also coordinates the Cherub Program, providing clothing for needy babies born in our hospitals. We are always looking for light-colored yarn to make baby afghans, and we welcome financial donations so we may purchase yarn. Volunteers who can crochet or sew items are always needed. Please call (302) 744-7466 to learn more.
