Jon Ellsworth

Jon EllsworthVice President, Supply Chain

Jon Ellsworth is vice president of Supply Chain.

He joined Bayhealth in October 2023 to leads the Supply Chain team, which is responsible for researching products and supplies, receiving them at the warehouse, and delivering products and supplies to units who need them to do their jobs. Additionally, when education is needed on new products and supplies, Ellsworth’s team engages experts to make it happen.

Simply stated, Ellsworth’s priorities are to stabilize, standardize and strengthen. Stabilization is a consistent person to call for issues and to deliver the right product in the right place at the right time. Standardization of products reduces errors and provides consistency between Bayhealth campuses. To strengthen is to build processes, train teams, educate the organization and support these with elite level analytics. He considers his biggest win to be supporting the supply chain through the implementation of a best-in-class value analysis program, which is how supply chain meets the needs of clinicians and effectively navigates change.

Ellsworth has over 10 years of supply chain experience, leading large cost reduction consulting teams and spend management. Prior to joining Bayhealth, Mr. Ellsworth spent eight years as director of strategic sourcing for eight hospitals in South Carolina and 30+ hospitals in Arizona, in strategic cost reduction.

While he considers himself a constant learner, Ellsworth also enjoys teaching people about supply chain, whether it is a team member learning about data, a surgeon learning about contracts or nurses understanding the group purchasing organization (GPO). He enjoys mentoring students studying supply chain as a potential career and who have a desire to learn and grow. His advice to students is to ask questions and seek to learn something new every day. “Everyone has something they can teach you; it’s up to you to find out what it is.”

Ellsworth has shared his knowledge and expertise as a presenter at the IDN (Integrated Delivery Network) Summit about mastering purchased services within health systems. He is a graduate of Arizona State University (bachelor’s in business administration) and University of Colorado (masters in Hospital Administration).

Ellsworth is a native of Arizona. During his spare time, you’ll find him traveling the roads of Delaware on his bike. It’s not uncommon for him to ride 100 miles on any given weekend. Ellsworth says his two-year-old son Brighton also likes bikes, “He just doesn’t know it yet.”
