Bayhealth Foundation Receives Ongoing Support from Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation
The Bayhealth Foundation has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation Inc., the charitable giving partner of Perdue Farms. This grant will support Bayhealth’s mobile cancer screening program through its Mobile Care Unit in Milford and Georgetown.
“Bayhealth is incredibly grateful for the continuous commitment and support by the Perdue Foundation as we work to address cancer screening needs in our community,” said Senior Director, Oncology Service Line and Executive Director, Bayhealth Cancer Institute, John Shevock. “The support allows our Mobile Care Unit to meet patients in their community and provide access to cancer screenings and makes it easier for those living in central and southern Delaware to stay on top of their health.”
Funds from this award will support Bayhealth’s continuous effort to meet the community where they are and provide breast cancer screenings, smoking cessation and lung cancer screenings and prostate cancer screenings. Community screening locations include the Perdue plants in Milford and Georgetown.
Bayhealth’s mobile care unit’s 38-foot rolling clinic is a specially designed and built medical unit equipped with a private examination room, two hearing screening booths, a waiting area and a bathroom. It is used throughout Kent and Sussex counties to serve community members and occupational health clients with services such as blood pressure checks, health education, health screenings and vaccinations.
The Perdue investment is part of the company’s Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors® outreach to improve quality of life and build strong communities.
“Assuring access to quality health care in the communities where our associates live and work in Delaware is a priority at Perdue,” said Executive Director of Perdue Foundation, Kim Nechay. “We are proud to be a part of Bayhealth’s tradition of healthcare excellence. We know the services provided through the mobile unit will help improve the quality of life for our associates and their families, and our neighbors.”
