New Oasis Room at Bayhealth’s Kent Campus Offers Respite for Team Members
A ribbon-cutting was held this winter for the opening of an Oasis Room at Bayhealth’s Kent Campus. Designed for hospital team members, the concept focuses on creating a serene, restorative space to take a much-needed break. The idea is to provide an environment that helps them de-stress, recharge and decompress, which is essential for their well-being and performance, especially given the high-pressure nature of their work.
The establishment of the room was a partnership between the health system’s Be Well team and Bayhealth leadership. Be Well’s mission is to prioritize the well-being of caregivers at Bayhealth. It offers an internal platform rich with resources to support emotional, physical, career and financial needs. In collaboration with Johns Hopkins, Be Well has initiated the RISE program, which enables any team member to reach out for peer support.
“The Oasis Room is a valuable new resource, furthering our commitment to care for those who dedicate themselves tirelessly daily,” said Brittany Oakey, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, nursing professional development manager, Bayhealth Medical Center. “We are grateful for our Bayhealth team members and all they do for our patients, their families and one another. It has been an honor to be a part of this important work.”
The Oasis Room is located on the 4th floor at Kent Campus in room C4306. It provides a safe, quiet and calm space for team members to refocus and reenergize. Team members can relax and recharge in our zero gravity chairs, partake in mindful activities, meditation or prayer while in this space and enjoy a hot tea or coffee.
A plan to expand the Oasis Room to the Sussex Campus is underway.
