Bariatric Program Support Group

The support group is a forum designed to provide education, assistance and support for a healthier lifestyle and behaviors.

Our Bariatric Surgery Support Group provides a safe, positive and secure environment welcoming Bayhealth bariatric surgery and weight management patients, care partners and support people, and those considering having weight loss surgery.

Topics and discussion within the group vary and are focused around weight management and may include:

• Bariatric surgery myth busters
• Stress and emotional eating management
• Skill-building for long-term weight loss
• Social support
• Goal setting and measuring success
• Nutrition and vitamins
• Exercise and physical activity
• Sleep and healthy lifestyle (obstructive sleep apnea, etc.)
• Meal preparation and planning (grocery shopping, dining out, tips and tricks)
• Guest speakers (bariatric surgeon, registered dietician, sleep specialist, plastic surgeon)

Meetings begin at 6 p.m. and are in person or virtual. Meeting locations alternate between the Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford and Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover. Sussex Campus - meetings are held in the 2nd floor conference room (Room 2002) at Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Nemours Building, 101 Wellness Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Kent Campus - meetings are held in the Board Room at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, 640 S. State St. Dover, DE 19901.
