Genna M. Thompson, CNS

Genna Thompson, CNS, is a clinical nurse specialist who cares for patients with various neurosurgical conditions.

Genna was born and raised in Delaware. After earning her associate degree in nursing, Genna began her career at Bayhealth as a medical-surgical nurse. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree to become a clinical nurse specialist (CNS).

Her experience includes working in critical care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and in general surgery. As a CNS for Bayhealth Neurosurgery, Genna uses her knowledge of current research and advanced clinical skills to work collaboratively with neurosurgeons and other specialists in caring for patients with brain, spine and nervous system disorders.

Being able to take care of her community is why she went into nursing and continues to drive her in her daily work. Genna finds it most gratifying when she can work with very ill patients and help them through the recovery process and enjoy improved wellness.

When she’s not working, Genna likes to spend time with family and friends, travel and read. She is a huge fan of Dave Matthews Band and loves going to as many of their shows throughout the year as she can.
