About
After being chief resident and completing his family practice residency at West Jersey Hospital (a University of Pennsylvania affiliate program), Dr. Rubacky joined the United State Air Force, earning the rank of major. Stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida, he was chairman of the family medicine department and emergency medicine. The Surgeon General of the Tactical Air Command recognized his achievements by awarding him both the Air Force Commendation Medal and the TAC Surgeon General's Medal.
Through committee work at Bayhealth and statewide, Dr. Rubacky has helped enhance healthcare quality and access in the community. He is a past chairman of the family practice department at Kent General Hospital, served as vice president and president of the Medical Staff, and served on Bayhealth’s Board of Trustees for more than 10 years. Additionally, he has been treasurer, vice president, and president of the Kent County Medical Society, and served on the Board of Directors of The Medical Society of Delaware and DELPAC.
Dr. Rubacky is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, their highest honor. Beginning in 2018, he became Chair of Bayhealth's Undergraduate Medical Education program. In this role, he has led the program development and recruitment of third and fourth-year medical students for their year-long core clinical rotations at Bayhealth.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Rubacky has remained active in both inpatient and outpatient medical care. He has a special interest in the treatment of diabetes, both in adult and juvenile, preventative cardiology, smoking cessation, and the treatment of HIV disease. He takes great pride in the level of care that he and the partners in his practice provide, including coming to the hospital daily to care for their sick patients and oversee the team of specialists and nurses involved in their treatment.
Outside of work, Dr. Rubacky enjoys spending time with his family, including his two granddaughters, running, cooking and sharing a good bottle of wine.
