About
Margaret Pisano, LPCMH, is a mental health counselor who helps individuals of all ages. She takes appointments for only current patients of the Bayhealth Primary Care, Dover, West and Frederica practices.
While in high school, Margaret found her passion for mental health after completing a psychology/sociology course. She then found a college where she could pursue her area of interest, and later went on to earn a master’s degree in counseling psychology.
Margaret has a strong background in cognitive behavior therapy. She also uses problem-solving therapy and is trained in dialectical behavior therapy. This allows her to create a goal-directed approach through the direct observations of patient responses to a series of carefully constructed questions.
Margaret started her journey with Bayhealth in our Wellness Center at Lake Forest High School in 2011. After obtaining her doctorate in prevention science, she became intrigued by the opportunity to work with clinicians in an effort to help patients improve their mental health as part of improving their overall health outcomes.
Margaret’s philosophy of care revolves around making sure that patients feel heard and their needs are understood. She enjoys working with every patient, sometimes in collaboration with other clinicians, to establish the best possible plan for their unique situation. Seeing patients reach their goals and knowing that she is making a difference one patient at a time is an incredible victory for her.
When Margaret is not working with patients, she enjoys crafting using her Cricut, volunteering at Lake Forest High School for various after-school activities, and running community 5ks. She also likes visiting her family located across the U.S. whenever she can.
