Dr. Tooze was born in Rochester, NY and was raised in Erie, PA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA in 1973 and subsequently his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed a five year residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. This included a six month rotation as Chief Resident at the Rothman Institute.
He is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and is board certified through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Delaware Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Medical Society of Delaware. His hospital affiliations are through Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus. He is also an instructor at Arcadia University for the physician assistant program. He has a special interest in computer assisted total knee arthroplasty, as well as uncemented total hip arthroplasties.
Dr. Tooze and his wife, Suzanne, moved to Dover, Delaware in July of 1984 to begin a private practice and raise a family. His outside interests include sailing and spending time at the beach.
