State's First Robotic Whipple Procedure Gives Hope Beyond Pancreatic Cancer

Time is of the essence when it comes to treating pancreatic cancer. When double fellowship-trained general surgeon Krishnaraj Mahendraraj, MD, learned that Milton resident David Zakashefski was in the emergency department with a pancreatic mass, he immediately sprang into action. Acting as his patient’s quarterback, Dr. Mahendraraj facilitated everything needed to perform the state’s first robotic Whipple procedure to remove the deadly cancer from Zakashefski’s body.
