Patient Reviews and Comments

At Bayhealth, we are committed to providing an exceptional health care experience for every patient. This begins with giving patients the power to choose a clinician who best fits their needs.

Many patients naturally want to hear about the experiences of other patients to help in the decision-making. Bayhealth is pleased to bring you online access to validated patient reviews, so you can choose the right clinician for you.

How do we obtain patient ratings and comments?

To obtain patient ratings and comments, we partner with Press Ganey, an independent patient satisfaction company that works with more than 26,000 health care organizations, including half of all U.S. hospitals, to improve the patient experience. Press Ganey uses the CAHPS® Hospital Survey and CAHPS Clinician and Group Practice Survey, to measure patients’ health care experiences with their clinician.

Who receives the survey?

Patients treated by Bayhealth clinicians are invited to complete the survey based on their outpatient office visit with their physician.

What does the survey entail?

Below are the questions from the survey that comprise the ratings. Ratings are updated monthly.

  1. Concern the care provider showed for your questions or worries
  2. Explanations the care provider gave you about your problem or condition
  3. Care provider’s efforts to include you in decisions about your care
  4. Care providers discussion of any proposed treatment (options, risks, benefits, etc.)
  5. Likelihood of your recommending this care provider to others

What do we do with the survey results?

Survey ratings and comments are shared here at Bayhealth.org. To ensure transparency, we post both positive and negative comments from the surveys for our employed clinicians. However, we refrain from posting comments that may risk the privacy of our patients, or those that are profane, slanderous or otherwise inappropriate.

Why don't all our clinicians have ratings and reviews?

A clinician’s rating will only be posted for Bayhealth employed clinicians once the physician has a minimum of 30 completed surveys. The more ratings a clinician receives, the more accurate and reliable the results. We do not post reviews for independent clinicians.

How is patient information protected?

The online reviews do not include patient names. All personally identifiable information is removed prior to display on the website.

What else do we do with the survey responses?

The patient reviews and ratings aren’t just helpful for patients looking to choose a clinician. Our clinicians and their departments also continually monitor their patient’s reviews to identify opportunities to improve care.
