Introducing Bayhealth’s Heart & Vascular Institute
Bayhealth’s Cardiovascular Service line gets a new name – Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute – to better reflect the world-class cardiovascular care provided to patients across the region. The change is reflective of our proven commitment to delivering world-class cardiovascular care right in our community.
The rebrand comes on the heels of the 20th anniversary of Bayhealth’s first cardiac surgery performed in fall 2004 at Kent General Hospital. The program offerings have since grown tremendously to include advanced imaging and invasive cardiac procedures, minimally invasive surgical procedures such as TAVR and TCAR, and advanced imaging systems within hybrid operating rooms. And with the constant growth of the surrounding communities, the Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute continues to build upon its team of cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and other support team members, as well as its geographical footprint, to keep pace with need.
“Every day, our teams demonstrate their commitment to our patients through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community outreach and engagements,” said Senior Director of Operations for the Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute Ben Collins. “Thanks to this team, our program was elevated as a HeartCARE Center of Excellence as designated by the ACC for being a forward-thinking institution that advances the cause of sustainable quality improvement. We’ve achieved this prestigious recognition three times in as many years. Our new name is reflective of the commitment we’ve made to our patients and ourselves to deliver world-class cardiovascular care right in central and southern Delaware.”
As part of the rebrand, our community will soon see some of our heart and vascular care team on television screens, outdoor billboards, local newspapers, and more. It’s our way of highlighting the comprehensive team of specialists who are leading the way in heart disease prevention, innovative treatments, and the management of chronic heart-related problems in our region.
More enhancements to our Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute are on the horizon as we welcomed a new Chief of Medical Cardiology Services Aditya Sharma, MD, at the close of 2024 and will welcome two new cardiologists this summer. Other plans include the opening of a brand-new location in central Delaware.
