Accountability Earns Tiffany Stewart a Sunshine Award

Tiffany Stewart, nursing assistant and unit secretary, Kent Day Surgery, cares for patients at the Bayhealth Kent Campus, and has earned a Sunshine Award for her high-quality, compassionate care.

The Sunshine Award recognizes vital team members who support our nursing staff and work closely together in order to provide compassionate care to patients. The Sunshine Award is an extension of the DAISY Award “as daisies need sunshine to grow.”

At Bayhealth, there are five core values: compassion, accountability, respect, integrity and teamwork. Stewart demonstrates all of Bayhealth’s core values and is described by her nominator, Dominique May, RN, Patient Care, Kent Day Surgery.

“Tiffany is an amazing coworker. From the moment Tiffany walks through the door, she exemplifies accountability by cleaning the day surgery unit and organizing the space to best prepare for our patients,” said May. “As she goes through her daily duties, teamwork is on full display, assisting in any way possible. She is always the first one to lend a helping hand, and often anticipates many of the requests made by her nursing coworkers before asked. In day surgery, there is a diverse population that sometimes require extra assistance, and Tiffany is always willing and prepared to show compassion and respect to everyone she meets. Her medic background makes her a great asset to this unit. She was able to hold c-spine until the rapid response team arrived to assist this visitor. In such a short amount of time, she has built honest and trustworthy relationships with those around her. Her progress has been outstanding, and we are truly grateful to have her.”
