Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute: Elevating Heart Care in Our Community

Big news for heart health in central and southern Delaware—Bayhealth’s Cardiovascular Service line has a new name: the Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute! This rebrand reflects our 20-year legacy of delivering world-class cardiovascular care right here at home, starting with our first cardiac surgery at Kent General Hospital in fall 2004.

Since then, we’ve grown into delivering advanced heart care, offering everything from cutting-edge imaging and minimally invasive surgeries like TAVR and TCAR to hybrid operating rooms.

Our team—cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and dedicated support team members—keeps expanding to meet the needs of our growing community. “Every day, our teams demonstrate their commitment to our patients through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community outreach and engagements,” said Senior Director of Operations for the Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute Ben Collins.

That dedication has earned us the prestigious HeartCARE Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Cardiology three years running—a testament to our focus on quality and patient outcomes.

What’s in a name? For us, it’s a promise to keep pushing the boundaries of heart care. You’ll see our talented specialists on TV, billboards and in local papers, showcasing the team that’s leading the charge in preventing heart disease, pioneering treatments and managing chronic conditions.

And there’s more to come! We welcomed Aditya Sharma, MD, as our new chief of Medical Cardiology Services late last year, with two more cardiologists joining this summer. Plus, we’re excited to announce a brand-new location opening in central Delaware soon.
