About
Dr. Amir comes from a family of several physicians, so following her mother’s and sisters’ footsteps into a medical career was a natural path for her. During her last year of medical school, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. As she experienced and empathized with what other patients with diabetes were going through, it steered her decision to specialize in endocrinology.
She finds it deeply rewarding when she can personally connect with a patient and make a difference in their life. She aims to truly understand the barriers her patients face in staying well. This allows her to work with them on an individualized plan that will improve their health and daily living.
Dr. Amir treats a range of problems stemming from the organs and glands of the endocrine system that produce hormones and regulate many functions in our body. Diabetes and thyroid disease are among the most common of these conditions, but also included are osteoporosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can cause infertility in women.
Outside of her work, Dr. Amir enjoys travelling and cooking.
