Jonathan R. Sarik, MD

Jonathan Sarik, MD, specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Sarik is the only double board-certified plastic surgeon in southern Delaware. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
 
A native Delawarean born and raised in Sussex County, Dr. Sarik grew up with an appreciation for the health professions through the care his mother and aunt provided in their nursing careers. It was during college when he was treated for a sports injury that he decided to pursue medical school. 

As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Sarik enjoys the challenges and vast nature of his field in that he operates throughout the body for many different reasons. He finds great fulfillment in being able to help patients across the entire health spectrum. Although he does not necessarily perform life-saving operations, he takes pride in offering what he calls “life-giving” operations. It could be a patient recovering from cancer or a complex injury. Or someone who is otherwise healthy but wanting to make a change for their own comfort or to become a more confident version of themselves. Dr. Sarik approaches each patient with a sense of empathy and a desire to help them in their journey. 

He performs a range of advanced surgical techniques. This includes reconstructive microsurgery, which involves specialized operating microscopes and precision instruments to perform intricate, small-scale operations. This is most often used for transferring tissue in order to reconstruct parts of the body after cancer or trauma.

When he’s not working, Dr. Sarik is usually spending quality time with his wife, daughter and their new dog. Together they like to be outdoors, whether it’s taking a long hike or enjoying the beach. Dr. Sarik is also a self-professed “fitness junkie” and avid Peloton rider.
