About
As a child growing up in the Philippines, Dr. Villarin saw the challenges her parents faced in getting the right care for her brother who is autistic and non-verbal. She decided early on she wanted to be a physician who would work to understand people’s needs, address their health concerns, and bring solutions to improve their lives.
Prior to her internal medicine residency where she served as chief resident, Dr. Villarin worked in emergency rooms and various inpatient clinical settings. There she gained experience in managing a wide range of medical illnesses and chronic conditions. She has a clinical interest in nephrology, which deals with kidney problems.
Dr. Villarin is most satisfied when she can apply her broad medical knowledge to figure out what’s happening inside a patient’s body—even if they’re unable to communicate what’s wrong—and put them on a path to better health. She takes pride in educating her patients and their families about health topics. She wants to ensure they have a solid understanding of their condition, the recommended steps in their care, and that they leave each appointment with all their questions answered.
Dr. Villarin has a love for filmmaking, videography, and creative writing which she enjoys doing in her spare time. She also likes watching TV, cooking and baking.
