About
Paulina McCabe, DO, is a family medicine physician who provides primary care to patients of all ages.
Dr. McCabe admits that she was not the most athletic person and did not have the best eating habits when she was growing up. All that changed when she was a college student. She joined her university’s CrossFit club and found a passion for exercise and nutrition.
While in graduate school for biology, she took an integrative physiology course that exposed her to the depth of research on the impact of healthy eating and regular exercise as preventive measures in medicine. She knew she wanted to incorporate these elements into her work. Along with her love of people and interest in developing deep ties with patients, this led her to choose family medicine. She considers being at the forefront of medicine as a primary care physician to be her calling.
After medical school, Dr. McCabe came to Bayhealth among the first class of family medicine residents. She had an exceptional residency experience and developed a love for the local community. Coupled with the fact that her husband was born and raised in the area, it was a natural choice to stay in Delaware to carry out her medical career.
McCabe’s philosophy of care is that prevention always comes first. She encourages her patients to eat healthy and find an exercise routine that they love so they can build a good foundation of health. As she helps patients stay on track with healthy habits, get regular checkups and screenings, and access care when they’re not feeling well, she guides them toward better health and improved well-being. Advocating for preventative measures, maintaining treatment for chronic conditions, and treating acute conditions that may arise are all important aspects in her day-to-day work with patients.
Dr. McCabe’s passion for healthy lifestyles continues to be a part of her life outside of work too. She enjoys workouts at CrossFit multiple times per week with her husband.
