About
Dr. Ellangovan has always been fascinated by the field of endocrinology. Also a highly trained musician, she views the human body as an intricate orchestra where the endocrine system is the composer and conductor controlling various steps that in turn can create a synchronous melody when the body functions at its best without disease.
Her clinical interests include diabetes, thyroid and adrenal disorders, osteoporosis and women’s health. Early in her medical training she witnessed how much lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes or a thyroid disorder, can impact a person’s quality of life. In recent years, greater numbers of people have been suffering from metabolic and endocrine disorders, further fueling her passion for helping patients manage these types of conditions.
As a self-described “people person,” she likes to hear each patient’s stories and understand their unique needs and health challenges in her approach to care. She takes pride in building meaningful relationships with patients and works with them to eliminate barriers to achieve their healthcare goals. Seeing this result in a patient’s improved well-being and quality of life is what fulfills her most as a physician.
Outside of her medical career, Dr. Ellangovan is passionate about singing and playing the piano and incorporates music in her daily routine as it helps her unwind. She grew up near the coast so always loves a warm day at the beach while spending time with family.
