About
Susan first attended Hofstra University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in physical education and athletic training. She continued her studies at Adelphi University, earning a master’s degree in exercise physiology. She worked for 13 years as an athletic trainer at a high school on Long Island before deciding to attend SUNY Stony Brook for physician assistant studies, where she earned a second bachelor's degree to become a board-certified physician assistant.
Susan feels that listening to patients is of utmost importance. As a patient herself, she always felt good when she knew the clinician heard what she had to say. In fact, the exceptional care and concern given to her as a patient by physician assistant is what inspired her to pursue that same path. While taking the extra time to listen to patients, she enjoys hearing about their lives and the activities they like to do.
After coming from New York, Susan was drawn to Delaware by the reasonable cost of living, but it was the relaxed culture and feeling of being an integral part of her healthcare team that made her want to stay.
When Susan is not at the hospital or in the medical office, you can usually find her with her beloved German Shepherd. She is a professional dog handler who breeds, shows, and trains champion German Shepherd dogs. While her own German Shepherd is now retired from showing, he was the number one dog among his breed nationally when they first moved to Delaware.
