About
While studying exercise physiology at University of Delaware, Theresa was asked by her former sister-in-law to be her support person when giving birth. Theresa describes this experience as the most amazing thing she had ever seen. She decided then it was her calling to work in labor and delivery. After being there again years later when she delivered a second baby, Theresa knew she wanted to extend her schooling to become a midwife.
Theresa worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Bayhealth for nearly ten years. Now as a midwife, she enjoys working with the same team of talented and caring doctors and nurses at the Sussex Campus. Her philosophy is to help women and their support team incorporate their desires for obstetric and gynecologic care with evidence-based practices of medicine.
She enjoys sharing her knowledge and helping patients understand what is happening through every stage of their pregnancy and childbirth journey. She considers it a joy to help women realize how truly strong and magnificent they as they welcome a new family member. She’s been a volunteer guest presenter at her alma mater Caesar Rodney High School to teach the child education classes about pregnancy and childbirth.
Outside of work, Theresa loves being with her young daughter and supporting her in her horseback riding and horse show activities, and volunteering in her classroom. They enjoy walking the trails together with their dogs, kayaking and paddleboarding at a local state park. Theresa also likes reading murder mysteries, watching movies, target shooting, working out at the gym, and spending time with friends.
