Bayhealth Recognized for Excellence with ACC HeartCARE Center Designation
The American College of Cardiology has recognized Bayhealth’s Cardiovascular Services program for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care. Bayhealth was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence in March for a third time in three years based on meeting accreditation criteria, and through their ongoing performance registry reporting.
Hospitals and health systems that have earned an ACC HeartCARE Center designation have met a set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs.
“Bayhealth has demonstrated its commitment to providing central and southern Delaware with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Bayhealth with the HeartCARE Center designation.”
Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement. Bayhealth has proven to be a forward-thinking institution with goals to advance the cause of sustainable quality improvement.
“The HeartCare Center recognition for a third consecutive year demonstrates our team’s continuing commitment to providing outstanding heart care to our patients,” said Ben Collins, senior director of operations for the Cardiovascular Service line at Bayhealth. “This designation further spotlights our excellent processes, policies, care and quality outcomes. We are required to outperform the majority of the nation in hundreds of metrics tracked in order to obtain and maintain this accreditation. The work that goes into this cannot be overstated, I’m very proud of our programs, our physicians, nurses and techs, and the nationally recognized care they perform day in and day out. Without them, this would not be possible.
In addition to the HeartCARE Center designation, Bayhealth has also received Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation, Electrophysiology Lab Accreditation, and was first in the state to receive Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Certification.
“When our community members need heart care – they deserve the nation’s best and that’s exactly what Bayhealth delivers to our patients,” said Collins. “Our community in central and southern Delaware can have the peace of mind knowing that we deliver on the highest level of care right here, close to home, when they need us most..”
The ACC offers U.S. and international hospitals like Bayhealth access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. These services are focused on all aspects of cardiac care.
